Door operators: what to know
A door operator opens a swing door automatically when someone presses a button, waves at a sensor or presents a credential. Low-energy operators are the usual choice for barrier-free doors and washrooms; full-power operators with safety sensors are used where traffic is constant.
Under the 2023 Alberta Edition of the National Building Code, power door operators are required at many barrier-free doors, including entrances and entrances to washrooms with a barrier-free toilet. We help you work out which of your doors need one.
