Traka key management

We supply and install Traka intelligent key cabinets and asset lockers, so keys, fobs, radios and devices are only released to the people allowed to have them.

What we do

  • Traka intelligent key cabinets
  • Traka asset lockers
  • iFob key attachments
  • User and permission setup
  • Card, PIN and biometric sign-in
  • Integration with access control systems
  • Audit reports and alerts for overdue keys

Overview

Traka key management, done properly

Even with access control on the doors, most buildings still run on physical keys: master keys, vehicle keys, cabinet keys and keys for equipment. Traka, part of ASSA ABLOY, makes intelligent key cabinets that lock each key in place and only release it to an authorized user, with a record of who took it and when it came back.

We help you size the cabinet, set up users and permissions, connect it to your access control credentials where supported, and mount and wire it on site. Traka also makes intelligent lockers for laptops, radios, scanners and other shared equipment.

When to call

Signs you need us

  • Master or vehicle keys go missing
  • Nobody knows who has which key
  • Key sign-out sheets aren't being kept up
  • Shared devices and radios disappear
  • Auditors or insurers want a record of key use

What we cover

Every job is different. These are the kinds of key management work we do most.

Key cabinets

Each key is fixed to an iFob and locked in its slot until an authorized user signs in.

Asset lockers

Intelligent lockers for laptops, radios, scanners and other shared equipment, with charging options.

Integrated systems

Cabinets that use your existing access cards and share users with your access control system where supported.

Barrier-free requirements in Alberta

Alberta uses the National Building Code – 2023 Alberta Edition, in force since May 1, 2024. Its accessibility requirements are in Section 3.8, Accessibility. Here's what it means for doors.

Door hardwareSentence 3.8.3.6.(4) and Clause 3.8.3.8.(1)(b)
Handles, latches and locks must be mounted 900 to 1 100 mm above the floor and work with one hand in a closed fist, without tight grasping or twisting. In practice that means levers, push/pull hardware or panic bars rather than knobs.
Power door operatorsArticle 3.8.2.7.
Power door operators are required at barrier-free entrances (including the inner door of a vestibule), at many doors along a barrier-free path to suites or rooms served by a public corridor, and at the entrance to any washroom with a barrier-free water closet. There are exceptions, so check how they apply to your building.

This is a plain-language summary, not the code itself. Requirements depend on the building's occupancy, size and whether the work is new construction or an alteration. Confirm them with your designer and the local authority having jurisdiction. More on barrier-free code.

Questions we hear a lot

What is Traka?

Traka is a key and asset management company that is part of ASSA ABLOY. Its intelligent cabinets and lockers release keys and equipment only to authorized users and keep a record of every transaction.

Who uses key management systems?

Property managers, fleets, hospitals, schools, hotels, retailers, industrial sites and any building where keys are shared between shifts or staff.

Can Traka use our existing access cards?

In many cases, yes. Traka cabinets can be set up with card readers that match common access credentials, and some access control systems can share users with Traka. We check compatibility before we quote.
