Overview

Door hardware, done properly

Good hardware lasts for decades when it's the right grade for the door and it's installed properly. We match hardware to the traffic, the door and any fire rating, and install it so the door still closes, latches and seals cleanly.

As an authorized dealer, we supply and install hardware from Allegion brands such as Schlage, LCN, Von Duprin and Ives; ASSA ABLOY brands such as Sargent, Corbin Russwin, Norton Rixson, Medeco and Abloy; and dormakaba, BEST and others. We can work from your hardware schedule, match what's already in your building, or recommend a set.

When to call

Signs you need us

  • Hardware is worn out, loose or doesn't match
  • You need hardware for new doors to a schedule
  • Locks don't meet the security level you need now
  • A fire inspection flagged non-compliant hardware
  • You want to standardize hardware across buildings

What we cover

Every job is different. These are the kinds of door hardware work we do most.

Commercial grade

ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 and Grade 2 hardware for commercial, institutional and multi-unit buildings.

Fire-rated

Labelled hardware for fire doors: latching hardware, closers and exit devices that keep the assembly's rating.

Electrified

Electric strikes, electrified locks and exit devices, power transfers and power supplies, ready for access control.

Barrier-free requirements in Alberta

Alberta uses the National Building Code – 2023 Alberta Edition, in force since May 1, 2024. Its accessibility requirements are in Section 3.8, Accessibility. Here's what it means for doors.

Door hardwareSentence 3.8.3.6.(4) and Clause 3.8.3.8.(1)(b)
Handles, latches and locks must be mounted 900 to 1 100 mm above the floor and work with one hand in a closed fist, without tight grasping or twisting. In practice that means levers, push/pull hardware or panic bars rather than knobs.
Opening forceSentence 3.8.3.6.(8)
Without a power operator, an unlatched door must open with no more than 38 N for an exterior swing door and 22 N for an interior swing or sliding door. Closers have to be adjusted to meet this.
Clear widthSentence 3.8.3.6.(2)
Doorways on a barrier-free path need a clear width of at least 850 mm with the door open.

This is a plain-language summary, not the code itself. Requirements depend on the building's occupancy, size and whether the work is new construction or an alteration. Confirm them with your designer and the local authority having jurisdiction. More on barrier-free code.

Questions we hear a lot

Which hardware brands do you install?

We are an authorized dealer for the major commercial brands and install them all, including Allegion (Schlage, LCN, Von Duprin, Falcon, Ives), ASSA ABLOY (Sargent, Corbin Russwin, Norton Rixson, Medeco, Abloy, Yale, Pemko), dormakaba and BEST, Hager and others.

Can you match the hardware we already have?

Usually, yes. Send us photos of the hardware and any markings on it, and we'll source matching or compatible parts.

Can you work from a door hardware schedule?

Yes. We can supply and install from the schedule on your drawings, or suggest substitutions when something has a long lead time.
